The previous personal mailing address has intentionally been removed from this draft.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Aviation Study Guide App (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Aviation Study Guide and Aviation Study Guide Pro mobile applications (together, the “Apps”). Where a practice applies only to Aviation Study Guide Pro, we identify it below.
2. Information stored on your device
The Apps store certain information locally on your device so study features work correctly. This may include study progress, hidden flashcards, cached or downloaded study materials, content-version information, preferences, and records indicating that terms or privacy notices have been acknowledged.
This locally stored study information is not uploaded to us merely because it is stored on your device.
3. App usage and analytics
The Apps include Google Analytics for Firebase. Firebase Analytics may automatically collect information about use of the Apps, such as an app-instance identifier, app sessions, app opens and updates, device and operating-system information, general geographic information derived from network information, and information relating to in-app purchases or subscriptions.
We use analytics information to understand how the Apps are used, maintain and improve functionality, and evaluate reliability and performance.
4. Crash and diagnostic information
The Apps include Firebase Crashlytics, a service provided by Google. Crashlytics may collect crash reports and diagnostic information, including crash stack traces, relevant application state, app version information, device model, operating-system information, and installation identifiers used to associate crash events with an app installation.
We use this information to diagnose crashes, troubleshoot technical problems, and improve the stability of the Apps.
5. Content and update requests
The Apps connect to our supporting server to check for and download aviation study content, publications, handouts, images, and other updates.
When an App communicates with a server, standard technical request information is transmitted. This may include an IP address, request time, requested resource, and similar network or request information. Hosting and server infrastructure may retain standard logs for operation, troubleshooting, security, and abuse prevention.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information.
Aviation Study Guide Pro uses Apple StoreKit functionality to purchase, restore, and verify subscriptions. The App may process App Store receipt and subscription-status information as necessary to determine whether paid content is available. Apple handles payment processing under its own privacy terms.
Firebase Analytics may also measure in-app purchase and subscription events for app analytics purposes.
7. Contact and support communications
If you contact us by email or otherwise request support, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, the content of your message, and any information you include in attachments.
We use this information to respond to your request, provide support, and maintain records reasonably necessary for customer service and security.
8. How we use information
- Provide and maintain the Apps and their study content.
- Deliver content updates and downloads.
- Process and verify purchases and subscriptions.
- Understand general use of the Apps.
- Diagnose crashes and technical problems.
- Protect the Apps and supporting services from misuse.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
9. Service providers and disclosure
We use third-party service providers to operate the Apps. These currently include:
- Apple, for App Store distribution, purchases, subscriptions, and receipt validation.
- Google Firebase, including Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, for app analytics and diagnostic reporting.
- Hosting and network providers, used to deliver App content and operate the supporting server.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or integrity of the Apps and their users.
10. International processing
Because the Apps use third-party cloud, analytics, diagnostic, hosting, and App Store services, technical and diagnostic information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.
Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws where you live. Where applicable, service providers are responsible for safeguards required for the services they provide under their applicable terms and data-processing arrangements.
11. Data retention
Locally stored study data remains on your device until it is removed through the Apps, the operating system, or by uninstalling the App, depending on the type of data.
Firebase Crashlytics states that crash stack traces and associated Crashlytics/Firebase installation identifiers are generally retained for 90 days before removal begins from live and backup systems.
Retention of Google Analytics data is controlled through the applicable Firebase/Google Analytics configuration and Google’s policies.
Server logs, when created, are retained only as reasonably necessary for operation, troubleshooting, security, abuse prevention, and legal obligations. Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to requests and maintain appropriate support records.
12. Advertising and tracking
The Apps do not display third-party advertising. We do not intend to use App data for cross-app or cross-site advertising tracking. This section will be finalized after confirmation that no advertising features or Google Ads integrations are enabled in the Firebase project.
13. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights concerning personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about how personal information is processed.
You may contact us using the email address below to make a privacy request. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. You can also manage certain privacy controls through Apple, device settings, and Google-provided controls where available.
14. Children
This section will be finalized after confirmation of the intended minimum age for users of the Apps. The previous policy stated that the service was not intended for persons under 18.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Apps, supporting services, or legal requirements change. The “Last Updated” date will indicate when the policy was most recently revised.
